From Forgotten Pearls to a Modern Jewelry Set: A Pearl Redesign Story
Share
Do you have heirloom pearl jewelry?
A beautiful piece of jewelry does not always need to be replaced. Sometimes, it simply needs a new vision.
Recently, a client brought me a pearl set - a double-strand pearl necklace and a bracelet that had belonged to her family. The freshwater pearls were small and delicate. This was a ordinary pearl jewelry set that had been carefully kept, but had been sitting unworn in her jewelry box for years.

My client is a stylish woman who appreciates beautiful things and loves jewelry with personality. She wanted to give these pearls a new life. She wanted to have something more contemporary, more versatile, and more connected to her personal style.
After examining the pearls, we decided to transform the set while preserving the family connection.
I redesigned the pearls by adding rich wine-red garnet beads and elegant golden accents, bringing warmth, contrast, and a modern touch to the classic pearls. Moreover, I added a few highly lustrous freshwater pink keshi pearls.

The original jewelry became a completely new collection:
- two pearl necklaces in different lengths,
- a design that allows her to wear them separately or combine them into a longer statement strand,
- a two-strand pearl bracelet,
- refined decorative clasps that add a finishing touch.

The result is a contemporary pearl jewelry set that feels fresh, elegant, and unique — while still carrying the history of the original pearls.

This is the beauty of jewelry redesign: the memories remain, but the design evolves.
Your heirloom pearl jewelry does not have to stay hidden away because it no longer matches your style. Pearls can be reimagined into pieces that reflect who you are today.
At Jewelry Olga Montreal, I help clients transform meaningful pearl jewelry into modern, wearable designs. We created pieces that can be enjoyed for years and passed on to the next generation.
